The Obama govt is due to turn a $51 billion profit on student loans for the past year , which is more than Apple, more than Exxon, double what Chevron made last year and more than the big 4 banks combined.

    And here’s the irony, a large proportion of the people who are being saddled by this debt voted for more government last year - believing that the private sector is Prime Evil.

  4. How the Sequester Affects Student Financial Aid

    Congress passed the Budget Control Act (BCA) of 2011, which put into place an automatic process of Federal budget cuts, known as the sequester, to take effect on March 1, 2013.

    Below is a snapshot of how the sequester affects student financial aid programs.

    Federal Pell Grants – No impact.
    FWS and FSEOG – No impact for the 2012-2013 award year but the awards will be reduced in the 2013-2014 award year.
    Federal Loans – Increase in fees for subsidized, unsubsidized and PLUS loans.
    Iraq-Afghanistan Service Grants – Awards where the first disbursement is made after March 1, 2013 will be reduced by 10.0 percent, an update from an earlier notice that stated the grant would be reduced by 37.8 percent.
    TEACH Grants – Awards where the first disbursement is made after March 1, 2013 will be reduced by 7.1 percent, — an update from an earlier notice that stated the grant would be reduced by 12.6 percent.
